DIY Spa Day: Run yourself a nice warm bath, exfoliate and shave until you feel silky smooth, give yourself a relaxing facial, paint your own nails, invest in a personal massager. Anything that will help calm and relax you.
Staycation: Sometimes a spa day is just not enough, you’ll feel shiny and soft and smell great but your mind is still going a 100 mph. At this point it is time to take a staycation. A staycation is just like a vacation except you’re staying at home or in your general city limits. A lot of people do this when they have to save up a little more or don’t have enough time for a real getaway vacation. Pick a weekend, invoke the help of family and close friends to watch the kids, lock yourself out of your work email and put your phone on do not disturb. Order some exotic dish you’ve never tried before, watch that movie you’ve been meaning to see for months, dance around in your underwear. This is your getaway time just for you.
Limit social media use: Theres always been a constant barrage of negative posts on social media but especially during this time when thousands of people are dying every day and no one has any answers. At times it is the first thing we see when we wake up which can affect your outlook on your whole day. Please take your mental health into account a limit the time you spend on social media consuming this content, you might not think it’s affecting you much but it does take its toll. I know it’s hard in todays’ day and age to check out of our favorite apps even for a couple hours, but you’ll be surprised what you can get done during that time.
Binge watch favorite shows: If you didn’t have time before, you definitely do now. Sit down with some popcorn, load up Netflix or Hulu and go to town. There’s a ton of new and old goodies to binge on, for me I would recommend: The Handmaidens (Hulu), Tiger King (Netflix), Little Fires Everywhere (Hulu), Family Reunion (Netflix), Black Lightning (Netflix)
Learn a hobby: Take this time to learn a new hobby you’ve always been interested in. Or hone some of your talents for a hobby you’re already into. A lot of people have been learning how to braid hair, learning how to do their own nails, getting into photography, music production, dancing and more.
Treat Yo’self (literally): Don’t feel guilty for indulging in your favorite food or snacks. We’re literally in the middle of a traumatic pandemic and everything has we know it is upside down.
Keep a journal: In times like this when the days seem to blur together and your emotions are like a rollercoaster, keeping a journal of daily events can help put everything in order. It’s something you can always look back on years later to reflect on when things were uncertain and see how far you’ve come.
